UTA will take students back in time with the Rollerskate Throwback event from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Maverick Activities Center in Room 133.
Hosted by EXCEL Campus Activities, the free event invites students to strap on skates and join an afternoon with a live DJ and 2016-themed decor.
EXCEL programming director Maritza Perez said the group hopes students can get away from the stress of classes while creating community on campus.
Students are encouraged to dress up like it’s 2016, but they can also dress for another era, Perez said.
The first 50 guests will receive mini digital cameras. Skates will be provided, but students can bring their own as well, she said.
Students can also expect snacks, drinks and a craft station at the event.
“Students can just have a good time to relax after classes, away from exams and classes and stuff, make new friends,” Perez said.
