A Fort Worth playground located next to an elementary school was destroyed in a fire Monday, officials said.
The cause of the fire at Seminary Hills Park is under investigation, according to Fort Worth Fire Department spokesperson Craig Trojacek. The blaze was confined to the playground area and did not get close to nearby Seminary Hills Park Elementary School.
The playground was a total loss, Fort Worth Parks and Recreation Department spokesperson Karen Stuhmer told the Star-Telegram in an email. The equipment was installed at the park in 2005 and would have potentially been replaced in another four to six years.
Stuhmer said a cost estimate to replace the playground equipment is still being developed.
