Road closures in San Antonio will continue this week as major state projects make progress. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announced shutdowns on several highways, which will begin in just a few hours.

Beginning Friday, September 25, at 9 p.m., the three right main lanes on southbound I-35 from Judson Road to O’Connor Road will be closed. Residents traveling near Live Oak and Windcrest will likely encounter delays, as the off-ramp from southbound I-35 to O’Connor Road will also be unavailable.

TxDOT says that while the blockade is in effect, its crews will conduct bridge cap concrete work. The routes will reopen at 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, weather permitting.

Detour information: Only the left main lane on southbound I-35 from Judson Road to O’ Connor Road will be open. Because the off-ramp will be unusable, traffic will be detoured to the next available exit at Weidner Road.

Unfortunately for travelers, I-35 is not the only highway experiencing a shakeup. At 9 p.m. on Friday, TxDOT is also closing all eastbound main lanes of Loop 410 from Harry Wurzbach Road to Starcrest Drive.

Department staff will work on beam installation at the site, near Northeast Baptist Hospital and Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston. The department plans to reopen it at 7 a.m. on Saturday.

Detour information: Vehicles will be directed to the eastbound I-410 frontage road, then to the Perrin Beitel on-ramp, before returning to the eastbound Loop 410 main lanes.
