Lobbing complaints at the mayor and City Council usually requires residents to fight through downtown traffic and crowded parking garages, but San Antonians can air their grievances in their own neighborhoods this fall and winter.

Beginning Oct. 14, a handful of meetings for residents to talk to elected officials will be held at multiple facilities across San Antonio instead of council chambers downtown. They can sign up to speak about any city-related issues, not just items on a council agenda.

The meetings will start at 6 p.m., an hour later than usual, and the temporary changes will run through January.

But the shakeup will only affect public comment meetings held Wednesday evenings in council chambers. Castillo said last spring that she hoped changing meeting times and locations could increase resident participation.

Residents must still sign up to speak. They can do so online or in person 15 minutes to 45 minutes before the meeting starts.

These are the upcoming meetings:

Public Comment Locations
Oct. 14 — Normoyle Senior Center, 700 Culberson Ave.

Dec. 16 — Walker Ranch Senior Center, 835 W Rhapsody Dr.

Jan. 20 — Wheatley Heights Sports Complex, 200 Noblewood Dr.
