Fort Worth

Taylor Sheridan’s “Lioness” filmed its third season all over North Texas.

The Paramount+ series follows CIA operative Joe (Zoe Saldaña) as she balances her “personal and professional lives as the tip of the spear in the agency’s war on terror.” The show also stars Nicole Kidman, Michael Kelly and Morgan Freeman.

Since “Lioness” was made in the area, several Fort Worth and other North Texas locations popped up in the show’s eight-episode third season, which wrapped up on Sept. 20.

This was actually filmed at the historic Ashton Hotel (610 Main St.) in downtown Fort Worth.

The 12-story structure was built in 1915 as a roomier replacement for The Fort Worth Club’s original two-story brick building. The club then built its own building in 1926. It still stands at 306 W. Seventh St.

Over the years, the Main Street building was owned by a supply company and later sat vacant for nearly a decade. In 1996, the building was purchased and $9 million was pumped into it for renovations. Finally in 2001, the building reopened as the Ashton Hotel.

Griner, who is from Houston and went to Baylor, was accused of having vape cartridges containing hash oil, which is illegal in Russia. She was found guilty and was given a nine-year prison sentence.

Kleberg is not a real Texas town, at least not anymore.

In 1845, a 4,428-acre tract was granted to Robert Kleberg, a famed solider and settler, according to the Texas State Historical Association. Now in Dallas, the tract was on U.S. Highway 175 around 13 miles southeast of Dallas. A small community lived on the acreage for decades, and the town officially received the “Kleberg” name in 1887.

At its peak, Kleberg had a population of about 4,500 people. In 1978, the community was consolidated into Dallas. At the time, Kleberg was the largest town in Texas without a property tax.

There is also a Kleberg County in Texas just south of Corpus Christi.
