Lewisville quarterback Laykon Brassfield was ruled ineligible by the District 5-6A Executive Committee on Friday, the signal caller confirmed Friday on social media.
The DEC found that Brassfield, a junior, had a dual residency issue and did not meet UIL criteria for a bona fide residence, according to the Dallas Morning News.
As a result, Lewisville will forfeit strong non-district wins against Highland Park (56-42), Trophy Club Byron Nelson (49-7) and Denton Ryan (49-17) due to Brassfield’s participation in them.
Brassfield, previously at Edmond North High School in Oklahoma, transferred into Lewisville ahead of the 2026 season. According to MaxPreps, he has passed for 742 yards and 13 touchdowns in three games.
“God is so good!!,” Laykon Brassfield wrote on X. “You gotta see the good in everything!! Me and my family have every reason to be mad… but we will bounce back!! This will not affect me as a person and as a player In light of the vote that didn’t go my way…. I’m humbled by the support — including from college coaches who have reached out today, showing me love.
“We’re good!! We keep training!! We will appeal and get this resolved. Thank you to everyone who’s checked in and stood with us! God is good. You’ll see 10 back out there soon!!”
The DEC’s decision can be appealed to the UIL State Executive Committee. As things stand, the loss is a big one for Lewisville, a promising squad ranked No. 13 statewide in Class 6A.
According to the Dallas Morning News, the Brassfield family used an Argyle household to enroll two siblings in Argyle ISD. They used the address of an RV and an apartment to enroll Laykon at Lewisville.
Brassfield replaced former Lewisville starter Tre Williams, who is now enrolled at Aledo High School.
The Farmers will look to turn things around for District 5-6A play when they host Flower Mound Marcus on Friday.
