East Austin’s seafood scene leveled up this summer with the opening of Fish Shop, a coastal-inspired restaurant from husband-and-wife duo Chef Justin Huffman and Nicole Rossi. The East Sixth hangout has now expanded its hours with a new lunch service, bringing daytime oysters and cocktails to the neighborhood’s midday crowd.

Fish Shop feels like someone bottled up the California coast and dropped it right in the middle of East Sixth Street. It’s all warm woods, cozy lighting and that been-here-forever energy that makes you want to stay for hours. The vibe leans vintage seaside — complete with a marlin on the wall that’s actually from Nicole Rossi’s grandfather.

Refined beach shack with Austin personality. Lunch here isn’t a quick in-and-out situation — it’s for an “I might order another martini because the playlist’s too good to leave” kind of afternoon. The space hums with the effortless energy of locals who know they’ve found their new go-to.

Lunch is where Fish Shop’s coastal flex really shows. Dinner favorites like the seafood towers and briny conservas are joined by some low-key showstoppers. There’s the Filet O’ Fish Shop sandwich, a hand-held Caesar inspired by San Francisco’s Zuni Café and a burger nodding to Huffman’s old pop-up days. Drinks stay beachy but grown-up — think Martini Rossi and a classic Salty Dog.

Happy hour — weekdays from 3 to 5 p.m.  — features standout steals: $2 oysters, a $12 Le Beef Burger, a $12 Filet O’Fish Sandwich, plus $7 house martinis and $6 house wine. Outside of happy hour, general price range is about $31-$50 per guest.

Fish Shop is open for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Find it at 1401 E Sixth St., Suite 201 — and yes, there’s validated parking on Navasota Street between Fifth and Sixth Streets.
