Explore exciting events in North Texas this fall, from immersive journeys in Scarborough’s Hollow to live music and the State Fair of Texas.
DALLAS — It’s the first official weekend of fall, and while the forecast isn’t exactly brisk … it is less oppressive than the triple digits we’ve been slammed with over the past several weeks. The pumpkin and apple flavors are hitting the shelves. Football is back. Sleeveless turtlenecks exist.
It’s fall in North Texas, y’all!
This story continues below.
This week, Melody Klachian with Dallasites101 joined WFAA’s Morgan Young to share her top choices for things to do this weekend. From a daytime disco that doubles as a tailgate to a night with beautiful, powerful live music to a perfectly spooky immersive journey through fall folklore and all of the hot new restaurant openings and curated lists of swoon-worthy spots in between, they’ve got you covered for the perfect fall kick-off in DFW.

Here Melody’s top events for this weekend!
Boogie’s Matinee Tailgate PartyWhen: Saturday, Sept. 26 Where: Boogie’s (1806 McMillan Ave) What: Think disco balls, a custom cocktail menu, food from Burger Schmurger and a dance floor led by DJ Jake Gatewood timed right alongside SMU’s game day, all wrapped up well before your bedtime. RSVPs are required because space is limited, and while valet is available, organizers are encouraging rideshares instead.Lewisville Western DaysWhen: Friday, Sept. 25 and Saturday, Sept. 26 Where: Old Town Lewisville What: Old Town Lewisville is turning into a full-blown Western festival this weekend with six stages of live music headlined by Randy Rogers Band, Eli Young Band, and more! Plus, endless fun activities for the family! The best part is that admission is actually free before 6 p.m. Since it gets super busy and parking is limited because of street closures, we recommend hopping on the free shuttle.Scarborough’s HollowWhen: Saturday, Sept. 26 and then every Saturday through Halloween weekendWhere: Scarborough Renaissance Festival GroundsWhat: If you’re into fall folklore, Scarborough’s Hollow kicks off Sept. 26 and runs Saturdays through Halloween, plus a special Dia de los Muertos celebration on Nov. 1. The immersive experience turns the Scarborough Renaissance Festival grounds into a village caught between three sisters keeping the balance and a newcomer named Lucian who wants it for himself. It’s built around live characters and encounters around every corner, so it’s less of a haunted house and more a story you walk through.Dallas Symphony with Idina MenzelWhen: Saturday, Sept. 26Where: Meyerson Symphony Center What: Tony winner Idina Menzel joins the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for its annual gala concert, conducted by Enrico Lopez-Yanez, and every ticket comes with admission to the after-party in the West Lobby with a DJ and cash bar. The concert starts at 8:45 p.m., so there’s time to grab dinner downtown first and make a full night of it.
And of course this weekend is the opening weekend for the State Fair of Texas, so pull up to Fair Park for rides, your annual corny dog and (obviously) some quality time with Big Tex. The fair runs through Oct. 8.
If you are looking for a date night that won’t break the bank, here’s one that’ll only cost you $45.
The team at Dallasites101 regularly curates lists of spots based on the vibe you’re looking for. Here are some of their recent roundups.
