AUSTIN – Texas had its ninth consecutive week of drought expansion.
The Texas Water Development Board reports drought covered 22% of the state in mid July, but has expanded to its largest amount since early April.
One-fifth of the state is in extreme or exceptional drought.
Drought conditions are now at 84% in Texas.
As of September 28, 218 of 254 counties in Texas are under burn bans, including all counties in the Crossroads.
