The Maverick Speakers Series returns with its fall edition featuring actor, director and advocate Giancarlo Esposito at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Texas Hall. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The event sold out quickly, however, standby tickets will be available as space opens up due to unused tickers.

James Bruse, director of presidential and advancement events, said people should arrive just when the box office opens at 6:30 p.m. to try to get a standby ticket. There will then be a standby line and admittance will be on a first come first serve basis based on space in the auditorium.

Standby tickets are only available in-person the evening of the event, according to the UTA website. They cannot be reserved in advance.

Esposito’s work transcends multiple genres, including superheroes, science fiction and musicals. He has had roles in many movies and TV shows, including portraying Gus Fring in “Breaking Bad.”

“I always find myself just learning so much more about these speakers after I get to know them and see the lecture,” Bruse said. “It’s usually really eye-opening.”

He said the goal of the series is to bring the UTA and extended Arlington communities together through learning from the speakers’ messages.

“Each speaker has their different fans, their different message” Bruse said. “We just want to bring people that cover all bases of life.”

When there are evening events at UTA, parking permits are not required for many spaces, according to the UTA website. Handicapped parking is available near Texas Hall.

Texas Hall has a clear bag policy, with the exception of medical devices or small diaper bags. Other security measures will remain in place and could include walk-through metal detectors or canine teams.
