As the summer ends and temperatures begin to lower, UTA sports start ramping up.

Here is the schedule for Tuesday to Oct. 5.

Volleyball

The volleyball team (7-7) plays two home conference games this week. The Mavericks start at 6 p.m. Thursday against the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The Trojans are 0-2 in United Athletic Conference play.

The team finishes the week taking on Eastern Kentucky University at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Colonels are 12-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Both games will be at College Park Center and streamed on ESPN+.

Men’s tennis

The men’s tennis team will open its season in the Ron Wesbrooks Invitational hosted by Lamar University from Friday to Sunday at the Thompson Family Tennis Center in Beaumont, Texas.

It will be the first time the team has competed since prematurely ending the 2025-26 season in March due to team injury.

Cross-country

The cross-country teams will compete in the 38th annual Chile Pepper Festival, hosted by the University of Arkansas at Agri Park in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The event includes 14 races over two days.

The men’s team will run in the McDonnell Memorial 8K at 10:25 a.m. Saturday, followed by the women’s team racing in the Harter’s Habanero 5K at 11 a.m.

Last time the teams raced, the men won the Gerald Richey UTA Invitational, while the women placed second. Both teams had multiple runners in the top three of their races, according to previous Shorthorn reporting.
