A 19-year-old Chick-fil-A team leader who died in a crash this month is being remembered by family, friends and coworkers for his kindness and the joy he brought to others.

Alejandro Garza was killed Sept. 21 when the van he was driving overturned on U.S. 181 about two miles south of Floresville, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

He worked for more than three years at the Chick-fil-A on Woodlake Parkway and FM 78, starting as a delivery driver before becoming a closing lead.

The restaurant said Garza also helped maintain the delivery vehicles and was always willing to step in wherever he was needed.

In a Facebook post, the restaurant said employees watched Garza grow into a leadership role over the past year.

Coworkers also remembered his enthusiasm for wearing the Chick-fil-A Cow mascot costume.

“He was truly the BEST at it,” the post said. “He loved making people smile, taking pictures with families, dancing, and bringing joy to our guests.

Seeing the Cow around our restaurant will always make us think of him and the happiness he brought to so many.”

The restaurant said Garza built lasting friendships with coworkers and became much more than a colleague.

“He was our friend,” the post said. “We laughed with him, worked alongside him, depended on him, and made so many memories with him.”

According to his obituary, Garza was dedicated, hardworking and ambitious. Outside of work, he enjoyed spending time at the river and fishing.

“Those who knew him will remember him as a very happy, goofy, fun, and enjoyable person who brought joy to those around him,” his family wrote.

Garza’s visitation and funeral service were held Saturday at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
