LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – On Monday, Lubbock Independent School District’s (Lubbock ISD) Communications and Community Relations (CCR) office announced the appointment of Britta Tye as its new community relations coordinator.
She joined Lubbock ISD on Monday, November 10, and replaced Phyllis Underwood following her retirement in June of this year.
“We want to thank Phyllis for all of her work over the years to build strong and lasting community partnerships, and give a warm welcome to Britta as she joins our team,” said Amanda Castro-Crist, executive director of communications and community relations.
“For years, Britta has been a passionate supporter of Lubbock ISD, finding countless ways to engage as a parent, a volunteer and an advocate of the district. We look forward to seeing how she will continue that work in this new role and the positive impact she will have on the children, families and staff served by our district.”
Tye joins the Lubbock ISD CCR team following her role as program manager for Student Development in University Recreation at Texas Tech University (TTU).
According to LISD, during her time in University Recreation, she helped plan and coordinate student and staff events, graduate celebrations and recruitment efforts for all areas of the department.
Prior to this role, she served as the Director of Events & Engagement/Student Alumni Board Advisor for the Texas Tech Alumni Association.
Tye earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations and a master’s degree in higher education administration from Texas Tech University.
