A collision involving a car and an 18-wheeler caused delays on Interstate 20 in Arlington on Tuesday and injured one person, police said.

Officers responded to the major accident about 10:45 a.m. According to police, a Nissan Altima was attempting to merge onto I-20 from the U.S. 287 ramp when it hit a semitractor-trailer traveling eastbound. The car became trapped between the trailer and the concrete barrier on the right side of the highway.

The Altima’s driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.
