AUSTIN – The Texas Veterans Commission and Veteran Tickets Foundation, also known as Vet Tix, announced a statewide partnership aimed at expanding recreational opportunities and connecting more Texas veterans, service members and their families with resources and support.

Through a newly signed memorandum of understanding, the organizations will use their networks to raise awareness of Vet Tix’s complimentary event ticket program and services available through the Texas Veterans Commission.

The partnership will help eligible veterans and service members learn about opportunities to attend sporting events, concerts, performing arts events and family activities. It will also connect Vet Tix members in Texas with programs and resources offered by the commission.

“Our goal is to make sure Texas veterans know about the opportunities and resources available to them,” said Tom Palladino, executive director of the Texas Veterans Commission and a former Army colonel.

Under the agreement, the commission will promote Vet Tix to eligible veterans and service members through its website, social media, newsletters and regional events. Vet Tix will promote the commission’s programs and services to its Texas members.

The two organizations also plan to explore opportunities to work together on veteran-focused events and educational initiatives across the state.

“Collaborating with the Texas Veterans Commission gives us a direct connection to the people we exist to serve,” said Michael A. Focareto, founder and CEO of Vet Tix and a U.S. Navy veteran. “Every ticket we provide is a small way of saying thank you while creating lasting memories.”

Since 2008, Vet Tix has distributed more than 40 million complimentary event tickets to currently serving military members, veterans and eligible family members of those killed in action, according to the organization.

Eligible Texas veterans, service members and qualifying military family members can register for free through Vet Tix to request available event tickets. Tickets are provided at no cost, although delivery fees may apply. Availability varies by event and location.
