Michelin-starred chef Atul Kochhar is coming to Plano for a three-day collaboration with Jashan, featuring a different dining experience each night from Oct. 3-5.
Kochhar, a prominent figure in modern Indian fine dining, made history in 2001 when London’s Tamarind earned a Michelin star, making him the first Indian chef to receive the distinction. He later opened Benares in London, which earned a Michelin star in 2007.
His Plano visit will bring him into the kitchen with Jashan founder and chef Prasanna Singaraju, who has cited Kochhar as an influence on his own approach to Indian cuisine.
The collaboration begins Saturday, Oct. 3, when Kochhar takes over Jashan’s tasting-menu experience with an exclusive seven-course menu. The dinner will replace the restaurant’s usual Jashan 101 and Taste of India tasting menus for the evening and costs $140 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
On Sunday, Oct. 4, Jashan will host “10 Hands — The Sunday Supper,” featuring Kochhar alongside chefs Akshraj Jodha, Ashish Bhasin, Ramesh Thangaraj and Singaraju. The five chefs will create a family-style menu emphasizing the communal traditions of Indian dining. The dinner is limited to 60 guests, with tickets priced at $160 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
The weekend concludes Monday, Oct. 5, with “Dil Se — Chef Atul Kochhar × Chef Prasanna.” Kochhar and Singaraju will collaborate on the weekend’s smallest dinner, limited to 20 guests for a single seating. “Dil Se,” which translates to “from the heart,” will feature a menu inspired by the chefs’ respective culinary journeys and Singaraju’s longtime admiration for Kochhar. Tickets are $225 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
Jashan is located at The Shops at Legacy East at 7401 Lone Star Drive, Suite B120. Reservations can be made online.
