VIA Metropolitan Transit plans to operate its regular service Thursday as San Antonio prepares for storms and possible flooding.
Fixed-route buses, VIAtrans and VIA Link are expected to run on their normal schedules as long as weather conditions remain safe, the agency said in a news release.
If conditions deteriorate, drivers are prepared to implement detours or adjust service as needed.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch starting 7 p.m. Wednesday. Forecast models indicate the heaviest rain is expected in the San Antonio area between 6 a.m. and noon Thursday, with scattered storms possible through the afternoon. Rain is expected to taper off Thursday evening before another round of showers and storms develops Thursday night into Friday morning.

VIA is urging passengers to allow extra travel time Thursday because weather conditions could delay service.
Riders can check for detours by visiting VIA’s website, following the agency’s social media accounts or calling GoLine at 210-362-2020.
“Safety is always our first priority, and that means taking the necessary steps to ensure our riders stay connected to what matters most,” said CEO Tremell Brown. “Our teams are prepared to monitor conditions, communicate and make service adjustments when needed.”
The Texas Department of Transportation provides real-time updates on road conditions at drivetexas.org. Residents can also check the status of low-water crossings by visiting Bexarflood.org.
Drivers are urged to “turn around, don’t drown.” As little as six inches of moving water can sweep away vehicles, including pickup trucks and SUVs, according to TxDOT.
Meteorologist Anthony Franze contributed to this report.
