Officers say the man led them on a brief chase on Interstate 30 before he pulled over willingly.

ARLINGTON, Texas — A man confessed to a murder that had just occurred after a quick pursuit following an assault on an Arlington officer, police said.

Arlington police on scene told WFAA police originally crossed paths with a man when he assaulted an officer. The suspect jumped in his vehicle and began driving away. Arlington officers pursued the suspect a short distance before he pulled over on Interstate 30 near the Belt Line exit overnight.

While under arrest for the pursuit and assault on an officer, the suspect then confessed he had just killed someone at a nearby apartment complex, police said.

Arlington Police went to the 1600 block of South Cooper Street where they found a victim had been stabbed to death. Police have not released any details on who the victim is or how they are connected to the suspect.

The cause of the homicide remains under investigation.
