The internship program at The Dallas Morning News is one of the best in the country. We pride ourselves on treating interns like full-time staffers from their first day, giving them crucial experience and insight into a journalism career.
We’re also proud of how we welcome interns as members of our newsroom family through mentorship efforts. They’re woven into the fabric of our company from the moment they step through the doors of our modern downtown newsroom, which was once Dallas’ public library.
Internships in Local News, Local Government and Food & Events are available in the summer, and internships in Photo and Sports are available in the fall, just as Texas turns on the Friday night lights for high school football. You can find more information about each role and apply through our online portal.

The interns’ summer includes a stellar daylong bus tour of Dallas with editorial columnist Robert Wilonsky, who shares his expansive knowledge of his hometown. A robust training program led by newsroom members covers essential skills in a changing media industry: interviewing, storytelling, social media, video, public records and more. Interns also meet with members of senior leadership, including the publisher, executive editor and managing editor.
