HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Road closures across the Houston area, including a full closure of the Tomball Freeway for bridge repairs, could affect traffic over the weekend.

SH-249 Tomball Parkway

According to TxDOT, the Tomball Parkway will be shut down in both directions near Louetta Road for bridge repairs. TxDOT officials said the closure will last from 9 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday.

During the closure, officials explained that all southbound traffic will have to exit at Chasewood Park Drive/Cypresswood Drive and follow along the frontage road, which will remain open, until the next entrance ramp. All northbound traffic will exit at Louetta Road and also follow the frontage road until the next entrance ramp, TxDOT said.

IH-610 West Loop

TxDOT said that the West Loop near San Felipe Street will experience nightly closures from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. each day until Monday. The closures include alternating lanes from San Felipe Street to West 18th Street.

The northbound entrance ramps at Westheimer Road and San Felipe Street will also be shut down during the nightly closures, officials explained, with the next available entrance ramp at Post Oak Boulevard.

I-45 Gulf Freeway

In Galveston County, the Gulf Freeway southbound exit at SH-6/SH-146 will close nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. throughout the weekend as well, TxDOT said.

Traffic will continue southbound to the exit at Virginia Point Road, then take a U-turn back north to reach SH-146, officials explained.
