Carlos Mendez died after being struck by an SUV in a crosswalk in Arlington late last month.
ARLINGTON, Texas — A 57-year-old man who was critically injured after he was struck by a vehicle in Arlington late last month has died from his injuries, according to the Arlington Police Department.
Officers were called just after 7 a.m. on Oct. 27 to the 5900 block of Kelly Elliott Road, where they found the man seriously injured after being hit by an SUV. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Nov. 7.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Carlos Mendez.
Investigators determined the SUV driver struck Mendez while making a turn on a green turn signal as Mendez walked into the crosswalk. Police said the driver stopped immediately, remained on scene, and cooperated with the investigation.
Mendez was using a designated crosswalk at the time, though investigators have not determined whether he entered it at the direction of a traffic signal. No criminal charges have been filed, Arlington police said.
