A Texas woman was charged with capital murder after she shot and killed her two sons, ages 21 and 15, according to authorities.

The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office identified her as 42-year-old Colleen Nichole Lemmon.

“My deepest sympathies go out to the victims’ father, family members, and loved ones involved in this tragic incident,” Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman said in a news release shared on social media.”They will remain in our prayers during this difficult time,” he added.Colleen Nichole Lemmon (Photo: Ellis County Sheriff’s Office)

Norman said deputies were dispatched to a home in Waxahachie on Thursday around 4:15 a.m. Deputies entered the home and found “two male victims with gunshot wounds,” he said.

Christopher Scott Pitre, 21, of Waxahachie, was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff said. His 15-year-old brother was taken to an area hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.

The sheriff’s office withheld the younger brother’s identity.

Investigators also found Lemmon with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to the statement.

Authorities said evidence collected during the investigation gave them probable cause to believe Lemmon was responsible for shooting both her sons. The sheriff did not release additional details about what may have led up to the shootings.

Lemmon was taken to a hospital for treatment before her arrest, the sheriff said. She was booked into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center on two counts of capital murder.

Her bond is pending arraignment, Norman said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
