Houston Christian’s offense struggled to put up points, but the Huskies’ defense delivered a win over Nicholls.
Jaavon Bejarano returned an interception 48 yards for the game’s lone touchdown and the Huskies’ defense didn’t give up a point in a 16-2 victory Saturday night at Husky Stadium.
Lukasz Smolen added field goals of 43, 28 and 23 yards to provide enough cushion as HCU (2-3, 2-1 Southland) won for just the third time in 13 all-time matchups with Nicholls (2-3, 1-2).
The Colonels’ lone points Saturday came on a third-quarter safety after HCU was called for holding in the end zone.
In its past two home games, HCU has outscored its opponents 104-2.
