SAN ANTONIO — One person was detained after police say a driver struck a San Antonio police sergeant’s patrol unit and fled the scene.
The crash happened around 8:22 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Vera Cruz and South Brazos Street just west of downtown.
Police said the sergeant was patrolling around the area when his patrol car was struck on the side by an SUV.
The SUV driver fled the scene but officers were able to locate the vehicle about two miles from the scene of the crash.
The sergeant was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution. A female was detained for questioning at a nearby apartment complex, police said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
