A St. Mary’s Strip favorite is saying farewell to San Antonio. After seven years of late nights, DJ sets and plenty of memories, the team behind Midnight Swim says it’s ready to turn the page.
Midnight Swim will close its doors on January 3, co-owner John Michael Villanueva announced Saturday, October 3. But the team isn’t saying goodbye to its home at 2403 N. St. Mary’s St. just yet.
“We’re ready to do something different here,” Villanueva said in an Instagram reel. “This is the farewell tour. The grand finale. The f***ing end.”
What exactly comes next remains a mystery. Villanueva teased that the team has something new planned for the address but did not share details about what will replace Midnight Swim.
Until then, the bar is giving San Antonians 90 days to stop by before it closes. Villanueva invited longtime regulars and people who have never visited to check out Midnight Swim during its final months. He even joked that people who have been banned can reach out to see if they can make a comeback.
The farewell stretch will include the bar’s Halloween celebrations, which Villanueva said will be as big as ever.
“I’m looking forward to turning the page with y’all,” Villanueva said. “I really just wanted to thank all of y’all for pulling up and having fun with us the last seven years.”
The team hasn’t revealed what’s coming next, but Villanueva made one thing clear: They’re not done with 2403 N. St. Mary’s St.
“Excited for y’all to see what we do next,” Villanueva wrote on Instagram.
