One of the biggest games this week is Lovejoy vs. Argyle, a game that may end up deciding the winner of District 3-5A Division II. Argyle quarterback Hayes Hackney already outdueled Highland Park’s Buck Randall earlier this season, so Lovejoy quarterback Nixon Slaughter needs to have a big game if the team wants to maintain its unbeaten record and take a lead in the district standings.

Slaughter has 1,639 yards passing and 18 touchdowns to just two interceptions this season.

Donovan Wright, Conrad, RB

Conrad at Kimball, 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Sprague Athletic Complex

After a close loss to Pinkston, Conrad could use a win over Kimball this week to stay in the playoff hunt.

Albeit in a losing effort, Conrad’s Donovan Wright tallied 242 yards against Pinkston last week and will need a similar performance this Friday to pull off the win.

Luke Brossett, McKinney North, LB

Frisco Reedy at McKinney North, 7 p.m. Friday

McKinney North has jumped out in front of the District 5-5A Division I race with a 5-0 start. Its defense held Frisco Centennial to just seven points last week, with linebacker Luke Brossett recording 11 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble.

Expect him to be consistently around the ball against Frisco Reedy this week.

Anterio Lomax had an impressive 289 yards rushing against Roosevelt last week, averaging over 10 yards per carry. Look for Wilmer-Hutchins to have another good showing if the junior can produce like that this week against Spruce.

Chris Lark is an emerging standout sophomore with 557 yards rushing now on the season. Braswell has a pivotal district clash against Little Elm this weekend. Lark will play a big part if the team is to win. Against Flower Mound, Lark had 173 yards rushing.

Daylon Gordon, Wylie, RB

Wylie East at Wylie, 7 p.m. Friday

It’s rivalry week in Wylie, and Texas State pledge Daylon Gordon is the man to watch. He’s currently Wylie’s leading rusher (674 yards) and receiver (530 yards). He also has 21 total touchdowns on the season. If Wylie’s going to beat Wylie East, Gordon’s in for a big game.

Christian Contreras, Rockwall-Heath, WR

Rockwall-Heath at Royse City, 7:30 p.m. Friday

Rockwall-Heath receiver Christian Contreras is one of the area’s leading receivers with 645 yards and seven touchdowns this season. Casey Dick’s team is on a two-game win streak and could head into a big clash against Longview later this month with momentum if it can beat Royse City on Friday. Expect Contreras to contribute big.

Joseph Hairston, Lancaster, QB

DeSoto at Lancaster, 7 p.m. Friday

The biggest game of Stephen Jackson Jr.’s brief Lancaster tenure is this weekend against DeSoto. Junior quarterback Joseph Hairston has been the leader of the offense this season as the team’s leading passer and rusher. If Lancaster’s going to pull an upset, its signal caller will have to play a clean game against DeSoto’s defense.

North Crowley running back Kiante Ingram (23) pushes past Duncanville’s Jeremy Clayton II (12) during the first half of a District 11-6A high school football game on Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, in Duncanville.

Kiante Ingram and G’Yrell Smith, North Crowley, RB

North Crowley at Waxahachie, 7 p.m. Friday

Picking two players may be cheating, but North Crowley’s two-headed rushing attack works in tandem. In perhaps the biggest game in Texas, Ingram and Smith, who have combined for over 1,000 yards, will need a big game against one of the best defenses in Texas.

Aaron Snell, Waxahachie, DL

North Crowley at Waxahachie, 7 p.m. Friday

On the other side of the North Crowley-Waxahachie matchup is the vaunted Waxahachie defensive line. Aaron Snell on the interior defensive line will need to have one of his better games against the best running back 1-2 punch in the area. The junior, who currently holds offers from programs like Texas and Oklahoma, has 26 tackles and five tackles for loss this season.
