Two employees of the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office were dishonorably discharged after off-duty weekend arrests.

Deputies Damian Villegas, 19, and Damien Trevino, 25, were arrested by San Antonio police Sunday, according to the sheriff’s office.

Villegas, who has worked for the sheriff’s office for one year, was charged with reckless driving. Trevino, an employee of four years, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Details about the location and nature of the arrests were not immediately available.

Both men resigned instead of being fired, according to the sheriff’s office. The agency said it has reported the arrests to Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, which trains, sets standards and licenses Texas police officers, jailers and emergency communications personnel. Both men have been discharged “effective immediately, under dishonorable conditions.”

“Our zero-tolerance stance is well known,” Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said in a statement. “Any employee who chooses to drink and drive or willfully endanger the public should not be surprised when they’re suddenly unemployed.”

San Antonio police are conducting a criminal investigation.
