New H-E-B in San Marcos days away from opening. What to expect.

The new store will be the third H-E-B in San Marcos and will bring several new amenities to the growing I-35 corridor.

With opening day approaching, work continues across the property as crews put the finishing touches on the new store. A large H-E-B sign now towers over the I-35 corridor, while the store’s exterior, parking areas and other features have taken shape ahead of the opening.

The site also includes an H-E-B Fresh Bites convenience store with a fuel station and car wash, which is nearing completion.

One of the biggest additions will be San Marcos’ first True Texas BBQ restaurant.

The restaurant will have indoor seating and serve H-E-B’s in-house smoked meats, including brisket, along with sides such as brisket beans, creamed corn and homestyle potato salad.

H-E-B operates more than 30 True Texas BBQ locations across Texas.

The new location will give San Marcos its first chance to try the restaurant without leaving town.

The store also will include a fuel station and car wash at the H-E-B Fresh Bites convenience store, according to the company’s website. 

H-E-B says the new San Marcos store will officially open at 6 a.m. Wednesday, October 7.

The store is located at I-35 and McCarty Lane, adding another major grocery option to one of San Marcos’ busiest corridors.
