SAN ANTONIO —A man is in custody after police say he assaulted his girlfriend and barricaded himself inside a Northwest Side apartment.
Police responded Monday afternoon to an apartment complex on Babcock near Huebner Road for a domestic assault call. A woman called 911 saying she was assaulted by her boyfriend.
When officers arrived on scene they determined the woman had been assaulted with a cutting instrument and may have also been strangled.
The man barricaded himself inside the apartment for several minutes after police attempted to get in contact with him. He eventually cooperated and was taken into custody without incident.
The woman was treated by EMS at the scene for a minor cut injury. The San Antonio Police Department’s Special Victims Unit is investigating.
