HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — An armed suspect is now in custody after he barricaded himself and a 4-month-old infant inside a home on Monday, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

The sheriff said that the incident stemmed from a disturbance call at 9 a.m. in north Harris County. Authorities said a woman was confronted by the suspect, who was her ex, carried a pistol and took her vehicle and her baby boy.

According to authorities, SWAT and Precinct 7 deputies responded to the barricade situation at 4 p.m. in the 11800 block of Princess Garden Way, near W. Orem and SH-288.

According to the sheriff, the suspect was threatening to kill the child, kill himself, and kill law enforcement during the barricade situation.

Hours later, authorities say that the barricade situation ended peacefully with the suspect taken into custody and the infant was unharmed and was taken safely by law enforcement. Additionally, the baby reunited with his mother, officials said.

Deputies said that the suspect, 25, has an active robbery warrant out of Harris County and will face additional charges in connection with this standoff.
