The Dallas Mavericks are preparing for a grueling 16,000-mile round trip as they begin preparations for the 2026-27 NBA season.
The Mavs’ preseason schedule features four games, beginning with two international matchups against the Houston Rockets in Macao, China, followed by two home games at American Airlines Center against the New Orleans Pelicans and Atlanta Hawks.
The preseason games will provide an opportunity to evaluate the style of play new Dallas head coach Dusty May hopes to implement with a squad led by Cooper Flagg.
The trip to Macao will be demanding, as travel time typically takes between 22 and 24 hours, and the games will require an early wake-up call for local fans.
The Mavericks’ season opener is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 21, also against the Rockets. Their home opener will be Saturday, Oct. 24, against the San Antonio Spurs.
