A former Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been arrested and accused of using his badge to try to force a woman to have sex with him.
Dohnya Dozier, 42, of Spring, was charged on Oct. 1 with attempted sexual assault and official oppression. He allegedly threatened a woman with arrest in April 2025 unless she had sex with him, according to charging documents.
Dozier did not enter a plea during a hearing at the Harris County Criminal Justice Center on Monday. He was given a court-appointed attorney after telling the court he was unable to afford his own lawyer.
During the hearing, prosecutors said footage from a body-worn camera showed Dozier responding to a trespassing call at a hotel. The footage also showed the woman in the back of a patrol vehicle.
The camera recorded Dozier saying he wouldn’t call the district attorney if she would “hook up” with him, a prosecutor said.
The woman allegedly went to another hotel with Dozier, but he left after she became upset. Deputies later contacted the woman, who told them about the encounter.
Dozier told investigators that he had sexual encounters with as many as 12 women he met while in uniform, according to prosecutors.
Dozier has not worked as a sheriff’s deputy since December, when he was accused of sexual assault by another woman in a lawsuit filed in Harris County. He was placed on administrative leave by the sheriff’s office earlier that month and was fired in March.
In the lawsuit, a woman said that Dozier assaulted her in a hospital room before driving her to a hotel. The lawsuit named Dozier, the sheriff’s office, the hospital and the hotel as defendants, but the lawsuit was voluntarily dismissed before any of the parties responded.
Dozier began working for the sheriff’s office in 2023, according to state licensing records. He hasn’t worked for any other police agencies in Texas.
He permanently surrendered his peace officer’s license in April, according to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
Dozier’s bond was set at $60,000. As a condition of his release, Dozier is not allowed to work in law enforcement or security, or as a delivery driver.
Official oppression is a misdemeanor that carries a possible punishment of up to one year in jail. Attempted sexual assault is a third-degree felony that carries a maximum punishment of up to 10 years in prison.
Dozier is scheduled to return to court for a hearing in November.
