More than 2.5 million Texans may have been affected by a DriveWealth data breach that exposed personal information, according to a report filed with the office of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

The report, posted Oct. 2 on the attorney general’s website, said New York-based broker-dealer DriveWealth experienced a security incident that exposed Americans’ names, Social Security numbers and financial information. The company said it isn’t aware of any instances of the breach resulting in identity fraud or other inappropriate uses of the information that may have been exposed.

In an email notifying customers of the breach, DriveWealth said the incident occurred between Sept. 4 and Sept. 5.

“Our investigation confirmed that we contained the compromise on Sept. 5, 2026, and we have not observed further unauthorized activity to date,” the company said in a email.

DriveWealth recommended that customers protect themselves by using antivirus software and regularly updating their passwords. The company also advised customers to remain alert for scam emails containing suspicious links.

DriveWealth did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

“Please accept our apologies that this incident occurred,” the company said in the email. “We are committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information in our possession and have taken many precautions to safeguard it. We continually evaluate and modify our practices and internal controls to enhance the security and privacy of your personal information.”
