The new restaurant is at 4610 W. University Drive, Suite 110, and it opened just a few months after the family-owned chain made its Texas debut with a location in Plano.
Ono Hawaiian BBQ is known for dishes inspired by Hawaiian cuisine, particularly plate lunches that pair proteins with rice and macaroni salad. Menu options include Hawaiian BBQ Chicken, Chicken Katsu (a crispy breaded chicken fillet served with special Ono Katsu Sauce), Teriyaki Chicken and Kalua Pork (a slow-roasted pork dish with smoky flavor, served shredded over steamed cabbage).
The chain was founded in 2002 and now has more than 130 restaurants in California and Arizona. Its Texas expansion began in July with the opening of its location in Plano.
“The response to our Plano opening has been incredibly encouraging, and we’re excited to bring the same food, hospitality and aloha spirit to McKinney,” Joshua Liang, co-founder and CEO of Ono Hawaiian BBQ, said in a statement.
The University Drive corridor in McKinney, where Ono Hawaiian BBQ is located, has become one of the city’s major shopping areas, with restaurants offering a range of cuisines.
