One of the linemen, Drew Shelton, is most likely out for Thursday’s game against Tampa Bay with a hamstring injury.
In Week 3, Shelton was lined up next to Terence Steele when a defender got between them to block a kick against the Ravens. However, Steele was apparently at fault for that, as Schottenheimer said the tackle is supposed to block inside out, meaning take on the defender closest to the kicker.
Last week, Texans edge rusher Will Anderson blocked a field goal try. Anderson got through Broderick Jones and Nick Leverett.
“Yeah, moving some pieces around,” Schottenheimer said without getting into specifics. “We were going to move some pieces around anyways because it hasn’t been very good. We’ve got a good rotation going, but at the end of the day, we just got to clean some things up from a technical standpoint.”
The Cowboys are tied for the second most field goal attempts (11) in the NFL with two kicks blocked.
