North Texas motorists know how hazardous navigating the region’s roadways during on and off-peak hours can be.

Hundreds of accidents occur daily throughout the 16-county North Texas region, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. However, some intersections may be more unsafe than others.

A Corpus Christi-based personal injury law firm released a Sept. 30 report analyzing 11 cities and their most dangerous intersections from January to August 2026, two of which are in North Texas.

Here’s what to know about Dallas and Plano’s three worst intersections.

Dallas had the highest crash severity rate of all the cities analyzed at 3.7%. The crash severity rate refers to collisions resulting in serious injury or death.

Friday was the peak day for collisions in every city except Dallas, whose peak day was Saturday.

According to the report, the most dangerous intersections in Dallas are Interstate 35E and State Highway 183 with 70 crashes; Interstate 35E and Spur 366 with 69 crashes; and Interstate 635 and Skillman Street with 61 crashes.

According to the report, Plano had the second-lowest crash severity rate at 1.5%.

The most common contributing factor for collisions in both Dallas and Plano was failure to control speed, and peak time for accidents was 5 p.m.

In Plano, the most dangerous intersections are Legacy Drive and North Dallas Parkway with 23 crashes; Legacy Drive and State Highway 289 with 21 crashes; and Coit Road and West Park Boulevard with 20 crashes.
