Your mission, should you choose to accept it: help Austin’s four-legged friends find loving homes while supporting the lifesaving work of the Austin Humane Society.

Luis Sanchez with the Austin Humane Society joined Sierra Waggoner and Trevor Scott on We Are Austin, bringing along two special guests, Lana and Beck, to share more about the upcoming Rags to Wags Gala. Trevor will serve as this year’s emcee.

Meet Lana and Beck

Lana and Beck are around eight months old and came to Austin Humane Society as strays. Sanchez said the pair have shown plenty of personality, love being around people and even did well during their car ride to the studio.

Rags to Wags supports a lifesaving mission

Austin Humane Society’s biggest fundraiser of the year, Rags to Wags, returns October 24 at the Renaissance Austin Hotel.

{p}This year’s “Mission Pawsible” theme will bring a little secret-agent fun to the celebration, complete with a puppy runway show, live and silent auctions and plenty of opportunities to support AHS.{/p}

“It’s a nice little fancy time to enjoy the animals and dress up and just be part of it,” Sanchez said.

“You don’t really realize the impact until you’re there,” Sanchez said. “We’re going to tell some really great stories and really show the people who support that and make that happen.”

But behind all the fun is an important mission. Sanchez said Austin Humane Society helps approximately 13,000 animals each year through its spay and neuter services, community cat program and adoption programs.

Thanks to the vehicle donation from Roger Beasley Mazda, Sanchez said all proceeds from the raffle will go back to supporting the shelter.

Whether you attend Rags to Wags, enter the raffle or give Lana, Beck or another animal a forever home, there are plenty of ways to help Austin Humane Society continue its work throughout Central Texas.
