A nationwide sports retailer has set plans for another multimillion dollar store in a growing Central Texas town. Dick’s Sporting Goods will begin work on its first $11 million location in Bastrop, a city about 33 miles east of Austin.
Bastrop’s first Dick’s Sporting Goods will be a 55,000-square-foot newly constructed store, which is the standard size for its regular stores, so it likely won’t be a House of Sport. Construction on the store is slated to begin on December 1, 2026 and could be completed by December 31, 2027, meaning it may open in the first half of 2028.
However, all estimated construction dates in TDLRs are subject to change at any time. MySA reached out to Dick’s Sporting Goods for more information on the Bastrop store’s opening date.
While this will be Bastrop’s first Dick’s Sporting Goods, the town is currently home to its Texas-born competitor, Academy, located off of State Highway 71.
