AUSTIN, Texas — Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is expecting one of its busiest days ever Thursday, with more than 40,000 passengers set to depart.

That would rank among the airport’s 10 busiest days.

The rush comes as many students head into a four-day weekend and visitors arrive for the second weekend of the Austin City Limits Music Festival, which begins Friday at Zilker Park.

Airport officials recommend arriving at least 2.5 hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight, and say travelers should be prepared for lines at TSA checkpoints, airline ticket counters and elsewhere in the terminal.

Additional airport staff are on site to help travelers, according to AUS.
