HOUSTON – A Houston woman says she was left scrambling for answers after a piece of the building at HCA Houston ER 24/7 – Montrose fell onto her car while she was with her friend inside, who was receiving medical care.
Esmeralda Ledezma said she was already on high alert that day because her friend had been sick for some time and was inside the emergency room receiving care.
“There was the rumbling noise of the building coming down, and we had thought maybe something upstairs had fallen,” Ledezma said.
When she went outside, she found debris near the parking lot and damage to her vehicle.
Ledezma said she was initially told someone would contact her about what happened. She says that call never came.

“It seems to me to be very ironic that they don’t know who to send me to, but they know who to call to fix it,” she said.
Instead, she said she spent hours trying to find someone who could tell her what to do next.
“They’ve been kind of passing me from department to department and person to person,” Ledezma said. “I tried calling five times yesterday two different HCA numbers where they said that the person who knew the information wasn’t available to me.”
It was when KPRC 2 News reached out to HCA Healthcare, they finally gave an update to her insurance adjuster.
Ledezma said the lack of direction has been especially frustrating because she isn’t asking for anything beyond getting her vehicle repaired.
“I’m not asking them to pay me for emotional damages or any large sum of money,” she said. “I just want my car to be fixed, and I want to be able to have reliable transportation again.”
She said the situation has also been stressful because of the circumstances surrounding the damage.
“We were already on high alert, you know, hoping that my friend would be okay. He’s been sick for a while now, and then this happens,” Ledezma said.
The HCA Houston ER 24/7 – Montrose location is at 3209 Montrose Blvd. HCA describes it as a full-service emergency room providing adult and pediatric care and says the facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In a statement to KPRC 2 News, Tamara Hill with the Strategic Communications of HCA says she’s aware of the damage to Ledezma’s vehicle.
She released the following statement:
“The safety and well-being of our patients, staff, and community are our top priorities, and we are thankful that no one was hurt. We have attempted to contact Ms. Ledezma and are working to address the situation and her concerns.”
