The Michelin Guide announced its 2026 Texas restaurant selections Thursday, and several North Texas restaurants received international recognition, including a Fort Worth barbecue restaurant that earned its first Michelin star.
Goldee’s Bar-B-Q in Fort Worth was one of three Texas restaurants awarded a new Michelin star this year. Several Dallas-area restaurants also joined the guide’s list of recommended eateries, and a Dallas taqueria earned recognition for offering high-quality food at an affordable price.
The 2026 Michelin Guide Texas selection includes 149 restaurants representing 30 different types of cuisine.
Goldee’s Bar-B-Q, located at 4645 Dick Price Road in Fort Worth, was promoted to one Michelin star after previously appearing among the guide’s recommended restaurants.
The restaurant is known for its brisket, which Michelin inspectors praised for its tenderness and rich flavor. Inspectors also highlighted the restaurant’s turkey, jalapeño-cheddar sausage, potato salad, brisket-studded beans, and banana pudding.
According to Michelin, the restaurant’s popularity often means customers face hours-long waits to get their hands on its barbecue.
Goldee’s was one of three Texas restaurants to receive a new Michelin star in 2026. Fabrik, a plant-based restaurant in Austin, was also promoted to one star, while Austin’s Kappo Kappo, which specializes in Japanese cuisine, joined the guide with one star.
The additions bring the total number of Michelin-starred restaurants in Texas to 19.
Dallas restaurants Mamani and Tatsu Dallas also retained their places on the state’s list of Michelin-starred establishments.
Resident Taqueria, located at 9661 Audelia Road in Dallas, was among six Texas restaurants newly awarded Michelin’s Bib Gourmand distinction.
Unlike Michelin stars, which recognize exceptional cuisine, the Bib Gourmand designation highlights restaurants that offer high-quality food at a good value.
Resident Taqueria was the only North Texas restaurant among the six new Bib Gourmand recipients.
Other Dallas restaurants retaining their Bib Gourmand recognition include Cattleack Barbeque, Gemma, Một Hai Ba, Ngon Vietnamese Kitchen, and Nonna.
Several additional North Texas restaurants were newly added to Michelin’s list of recommended eateries for 2026.
In Dallas, four restaurants received the designation:
Fond: 1601 Elm St., Suite 110, Dallas
MĀBO: 6109 Berkshire Lane, Suite B, Dallas
Olōyō: 4422 Gaston Ave., Dallas
Resident Taqueria: 9661 Audelia Road, Suite 112, Dallas (new Bib Gourmand recipient)
In Plano, Jashan, located at 7401 Lone Star Drive, Suite B120, was also added to the recommended restaurant selection.
The guide’s recommended category recognizes restaurants selected by Michelin’s anonymous inspectors for the quality of their food, even if they have not received a Michelin star or Bib Gourmand distinction.
Several other restaurants in Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington and McKinney maintained their places in the 2026 Michelin Guide.
In Fort Worth, Birrieria y Taqueria Cortez and Panther City BBQ remained on the recommended list, alongside the newly starred Goldee’s Bar-B-Q.
Smoke’N Ash BBQ, located at 5904 S. Cooper St. in Arlington, also retained its recommended designation.
In McKinney, Harvest at the Masonic, located at 215 N. Kentucky St., remained among the guide’s recommended restaurants.
Other Dallas restaurants appearing on the 2026 recommended list include Barsotti’s, Crown Block, El Carlos Elegante, Fearing’s, Knox Bistro, Lucia, Mercat Bistro, Mister Charles, Monarch, Quarter Acre, Sachet, Stillwell’s, Stock & Barrel, Sushi Kozy, Tei-An, and Written By The Seasons.
Michelin’s 2026 Texas selection includes 19 starred restaurants, 54 Bib Gourmand establishments and 76 recommended restaurants.
The guide also introduced a new initiative called “Mindful Voices,” highlighting people in the hospitality industry who are changing the way restaurants, hotels, and wineries operate.
The 2026 announcement marks the third year of Michelin’s Texas guide, which launched in 2024.
“This year marks another standout year for Texas with three new MICHELIN Stars being awarded,” said Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide. “Over the past three years, our anonymous Inspectors have watched the culinary talent across Texas flourish and continue to push boundaries, which is evident in this year’s restaurant promotions.”
Michelin’s restaurant selections are determined by anonymous inspectors who evaluate food quality, cooking techniques, flavor combinations, the chef’s personality as expressed through the food, and consistency.
