Commuters in Texas’ capital city will need to pack their patience during their morning commute on Friday, October 9 after a crash has resulted in hourslong delays along one of Texas’ most infamous highways.
Traffic database SigAlert reported just after 6 a.m. Friday that a crash involving an overturned vehicle had blocked some traffic lanes at the intersection of Interstate 35 and Braker Lane in North Austin. Originally blocking just one lane, an update just before 7:20 a.m. Friday confirmed the two right lanes of traffic where blocked along the northbound interstate, with vehicles backed up to U.S. Hwy. 183 and exits 239 and 240.
SigAlert reported traffic is currently operating at a stop-and-go capacity, alerting drivers of the possibility of delays up to one hour.
It isn’t the only crash inundating North Austin-area roadways on Friday. A separate crash along I-35 South at RM 620 and exit 252 in Round Rock has backed traffic up to RM 1431, Chandler Road and exit 256, per SigAlert.
