NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) – The annual Stephen F. Austin State University’s annual plant sale is set to take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A members only sale took place Friday. The proceeds from the sales go back to fund SFA Gardens.
Matt Miller, from San Antionio, has traveled twice a year for the past four years for the plant sale.
“We come every year and look at all the new plants and trees and try and figure out what we can get to grow in San Antonio,” Miller said. “We try to bring East Texas back home.”
Miller said he and his wife plan to bring home 40 to 50 plants this year.
Director of SFA Gardens, Dr. David Creech, says the sales are important because the program has to operate on external funding for about 85 to 90 percent of their budget.
