San Antonio TV news viewers will soon have a new face to get familiar with, as California-born reporter Alexis Govea is slated to trade the Golden State for the Lone Star State.

In a recent social media post, Govea revealed she’ll be joining Sinclair-owned stations Fox SA and News 4, where she’ll report for both outlets as part of her move from FOX26 in Fresno.

“San Antonio, I’ll see ya soon 🤠,” Govea wrote in the post. She noted that the decision came together quickly, although it was far from impulsive. “I got the call, had about 24 hours to think it over, talked to my parents, bosses, prayed about it…and ultimately, I said YES.”

Govea, a Visalia native and Fresno State grad, has well over a decade of industry experience under her belt. Before spending over four years reporting for FOX26, she spent seven years as an on-air personality for Q97.1 Radio.

She also donned several different hats during her time at iHeartMedia, where she served as a news reporter, anchor, board-op and fill-in producer for the San Antonio-headquartered media company.

Before packing up for Texas, however, the reporter is squeezing in some much-needed time off: “VACATION MODE STARTS NOW,” she wrote in her post. “¡México, nos vemos pronto! 🇲🇽🤎”

Govea is scheduled to start at the stations next week but will take some time to settle in before appearing on air in San Antonio.

For viewers, that means a new reporter to watch out for on two familiar local news outlets — and one more California dreamer getting ready to call Texas home.
