A delayed start to the 122nd edition of the Red River Rivalry preceded plenty of fireworks Saturday as No. 1 Texas  faced Oklahoma (2-2, 0-1) at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

The Longhorns posted a pair of 30-plus-yard touchdowns en route to a 17-10 halftime lead, the product of quarterback Arch Manning finding each of his top two wide receivers on passes deep down field. Junior and Auburn transfer Cam Coleman secured Saturday’s first touchdown with an acrobatic catch in the back of the end zone midway through the first quarter.

Manning then connected with junior Ryan Wingo down the middle of the field for a 34-yard score early in the second quarter, a touchdown that gave Texas a 14-7 lead.

Up next for Texas (4-0, 1-0 SEC) is Florida next week. You can see the two plays below:

Manning impressed with 124 passing yards, two touchdown passes and zero turnovers in his second career appearance in the Red River Rivalry. Texas’ defense didn’t allow a touchdown, continuing a common theme in the rivalry after the Sooners failed to find the end zone in both 2025 and 2024 losses to Texas. Another, less pleasant theme also emerged for Texas on Saturday.

The Longhorns made multiple special-teams errors in their Sept. 26 win at Tennessee. They made another miscue in the kicking game in Dallas, where Oklahoma blocked a Texas punt and recovered the ball in the end zone for a touchdown in the second quarter.

Texas entered Saturday eyeing three straight wins in the Red River Rivalry since 1997-99. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is 3-2 against Oklahoma before Saturday’s contest. Manning is 1-0.
