Phyllis Jean Propes, 93, passed away Sunday, October 4th, 2026. Graveside Service: 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, at Greenwood Memorial Park, 3100 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth 76107. Celebration of Life to follow at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026, in Memorial Suite B, at Greenwood Funeral Home, 3344 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth 76107. Phyllis was born December 2nd, 1932, to H.R. Smith and Opal Ozment Smith in Frederick, Oklahoma. She lived her entire adult life in Fort Worth, was married in Fort Worth and spent time at Fort Sill, Oklahoma with her husband Delbert who was stationed there in the Army. She earned a master’s degree from Texas Wesleyan University and attended Texas Woman’s University. She worked at Fort Worth ISD her entire career, starting as an area supervisor and eventually retired as the director of child nutrition services. She loved to cook and bake. She was very interested in ancient Greece and Egypt and volunteered as a docent at the Kimbell Art Museum and The Amon Carter Museum of Western Art. She loved football and was an avid fan of the University of Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert; father, H.R. Smith; mother Opal Ozment Smith; grandmother, Mossie Ozment; aunt and uncle, Docia and Ben Buckner. She is survived by her son, Jay Propes; many friends, including, BJ Hoskins; and her beloved caregivers, Marissa Escobar and Patricia Eslava.
