El Paso County’s midterm election is right around the corner, and ballots were mailed out to registered voters on Oct. 5. This year, the county will have more polling centers and registered voters than ever, according to predictions from officials.
The number of registered voters in the county is hovering around 500,000 — the most in the state. El Paso County Clerk and Recorder Steve Schleiker said he expected that number to increase by 25,000 by Election Day on Nov. 3. Stay updated on the 2026 election with The Gazette’s voter guide.

Voting FAQ
Can I still register to vote?
Yes. You can register until 7 p.m. on Nov. 3.
Where and when can I vote in person?
Voter Service and Polling Centers open for in-person voting on Oct. 19. El Paso County is opening 41 of them this year because more people are voting. At a center you can register, update your registration, vote in person and drop off a voted mail ballot. Bring ID; see the list of accepted IDs.
Find the nearest one in your ballot instructions or by entering your ZIP code in the county’s Voter Information Portal.
Are the centers accessible?
How do I return my ballot?
Most voters, over 90%, use a drop box. The Clerk and Recorder’s website has security camera footage of every drop box location.
If you mail it, send it by Oct. 26. A ballot must be received on time to count, even if it was postmarked before Election Day.
Can I track my ballot?
What if I need a new ballot?
Call 719-575-8683 or email [email protected]. You can also pick up a replacement at any Voter Service and Polling Center.
