Brother Martin 5-star wide receiver recruit Easton Royal committed to Texas last November but has flipped his commitment to another SEC power nearly one year later.
On Sunday, Royal told Hayes Fawcett of Rivals that he was committing to Florida after months of speculation that he’d flip from Texas. The news broke with a social media post featuring Royal in Florida gear that included the quote, “dreams to reality.”

Royal hinted at a commitment flip after posting a record-breaking 100-meter time at the state track meet in May, saying, “there may be another commitment day coming” during his post-meet interview.
Both Florida and LSU were reportedly in the mix for Royal. Grant Chachere of TigerBait reporting in May that LSU was making an “aggressive push” to flip Royal from Texas, and Chachere later reported this month that Florida “may surpass” LSU.
Currently in his senior season at Brother Martin, Royal is the nation’s No. 2-ranked wide receiver and Louisiana’s No. 2-ranked recruit in the Class of 2027 according to 247 Sports.
Standing at 6-foot, 214 pounds, Royal was a Times-Picayune All-Metro selection and an LSWA Class 5A All-State pick as a junior after finishing with 1,433 yards from scrimmage and 20 total touchdowns last season.
This season, Royal’s numbers haven’t been as flashy due to seeing double coverage nearly every week. He’s caught 35 passes for 415 yards and 6 touchdowns through six games for Brother Martin (4-2) along with 73 yards rushing and a touchdown.
