All three suspects connected to a July residential arson investigation have been taken into custody.

Police said the final outstanding suspect, Ruby Leann Hernandez, 17, was arrested on Oct. 8.

The investigation began July 2, when officers responded to a residential structure fire on Desert Silver Drive at about 2:45 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a home and multiple vehicles engulfed in flames. Everyone inside the home was able to evacuate safely, and no human injuries were reported.

However, the fire caused extensive damage to the home and three vehicles. A family pet also died in the fire.

Emergency Services District No. 1 responded to extinguish the flames.

Police later investigated the incident as arson, with preliminary property damage estimates totaling approximately $274,000.

According to police, investigators identified three suspects believed to be involved in intentionally setting the fire: Jesus Adrian Servin, 23; Hernandez, 17; and a 15-year-old boy.

Investigators determined that fireworks were used to ignite the fire, according to the department.

Police said the department’s Flock Safety camera system helped detectives identify a vehicle used in the incident.

That information, along with additional evidence, helped investigators identify the suspects.

Servin was arrested on July 23. The 15-year-old was taken into custody and processed through the Juvenile Probation Department on Sept. 22.

Hernandez, the final outstanding suspect, was arrested Oct. 8 and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on an outstanding arrest warrant for arson, police said.

After investigators identified Hernandez as a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant, the case was referred to the U.S. Marshals Service for assistance in locating her.

Horizon City Police Chief Marco A. Vargas credited the department’s Criminal Investigations Division, patrol officers, Emergency Services District No. 1 and assisting law enforcement agencies for their work on the case.
