SOCORRO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Socorro police are inviting the community to spend an evening with officers during the department’s annual Fright Farm and National Night Out celebration.

“We want our officers interacting with the public far before an emergency. We want them to know who the officers are that work for them,” Socorro Police Chief Robert Rojas said. “We’re very visible in our community and we think that we’re very approachable, but we want to make sure that we build these relationships.”

The Fright Farm and National Night Out event will be held Oct. 23 in front of the Rio Vista Civic Center at 901 North Rio Vista Road from 5 to 10 p.m. Admission is free.

Planned activities include a haunted house, a costume contest, local vendors and other events.
